Two people have been killed while taking part in a Co Sligo motor rally, Motorsport Ireland has confirmed this evening.
The Sligo Stages Rally was stopped following a serious road traffic incident that took place on Sunday afternoon.
In a statement, Motorsport Ireland said it extended its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of two competitors, reports RTE.
The incident happened at the sixth stage of the rally at 3pm this afternoon.
Gardaà have asked that footage of this collision at the Sligo Stages Rally is not shared across social media or messaging apps in respect to the families of the deceased.
