11-yr-old boy shot in the head in the UK while climbing a fence to retrieve his football

A youngster was shot while searching for a football, and the result was a shattered skull, reports Sky.

The 11-year-old was in Leyland, Lancashire, playing with pals when the ball was booted out of a backyard.

He was shot in the head while searching for it by a metal pellet believed to have come from an air weapon as he scaled a fence.

According to Lancashire Police, the kid underwent surgery and is currently recuperating at Liverpool’s Alder Hey Hospital, reports Sky.

At around 7:20 p.m. on Monday, there was a gunshot near Roadtrain Avenue, and the police are looking for witnesses.

“This incident has left a young boy with some really significant injuries, and it is fortunate he was not more seriously hurt or even killed,” said Detective Constable Paul Brown, reports Sky.
