18-yr-old Romanian charged with assaulting man in Dublin City Centre on Easter Sunday – victim remains in critical condition




An English tourist is in critical condition following an attack on D’Olier Street, near the junction with Fleet Street, shortly after 2.30am on Easter Sunday morning.

According to RTE, 18-yr-old Stefan Bornac, with an address at Woodlands Park in Naas in Co Kildare, was charged with two counts of assault causing injury to two men on D’Olier Street.

Bornac was charged at Pearse Street Garda Station in Dublin.

According to the national broadcaster, Garda Dabhach Dineen told the court that the accused had not replied to the charges made against him.

Judge Patricia Cronin granted bail of €500 on the condition that Bornac resides at his declared address in Woodlands Park in Naas, that he provide a contact number which the court heard he had done, that he was his passport be surrendered and hee remains in jurisdiction and reports to the Clane Garda Station in Kildare every Saturday.

Bornac was granted free legal assistance.

The court heard that Bornac wants a Romanian interpreter to be present at his forthcoming court appearance on May 30th.
