2 babies among 13 killed by gunmen in attack in hospital in Kabul




A hospital operated by the charitable organisation ‘Doctors Without Boarders’ (MSF) has reportedly been attack in the Afghan capital of Kabul with local media outlets reporting explosions and gunfire while medical staff have been trapped in the building.

The hospital is located in the Dasht-e-Barchi area of the Afghan capital and is currently at the centre of a fierce battle between the as yet unidentified gunmen and security forces.

The attack on the hospital began with two large explosions, attributed by some reports on the scene to suicide bombers TOLO News reports.

The Afghan Interior Ministry said a special police unit has arrived at the scene.

Reuters reports that the attack on the hospital was launched at the same time as a visit by the country’s deputy Health Minister was scheduled according to sources inside the Afghan Interior Ministry.
