
As of Wednesday (January 1), a number of cost-of-living adjustments included in Budget 2025 will be implemented, bringing with them a number of significant financial changes, reports The Mirror.
Some of the one-time bonuses have already been distributed since the announcement of Budget 2025 in October, but more will be given out in the next year.
Recipients of social welfare have been advised to be aware of the adjustments that will take effect this week, including higher payouts and modified income requirements, reports The Mirror.

According to Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys, the hikes are a part of the largest social welfare budget ever.
This is all the information you want on the social assistance reforms that will take effect on January 1.
– The majority of monthly social welfare payments have increased by €12. Those receiving a lower rate and eligible adults will get commensurate increases.
– Maternity, paternity, adoptive, and parent benefits have all increased by €15.
– Child Support Payment rates (formerly known as Increase for a Qualified Child) will rise by €4 to €50 for children under 12 and by €8 to €62 for those 12 and over per week.
– For children born on or after December 1, 2024, a Newborn Baby Grant of €280 is added to the first month of Child Benefit (€140).
– Regardless of the size of the family, the Working Family Payment income criteria will rise by €60 per week.
