Philip Leahy, the 22-year-old Cork man who was injured in a swimming accident in the US last week, has passed away.
Philip was in the US on a working visa. He and a group of friends went for a swim in Ocean City, Maryland, but soon got into difficulty due to strong currents.
Philip suffered a heart attack after being pulled from the water and spent the last few days on life support.
He passed away in hospital last night.
