A 23-year-old man named Michael McGuirk has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred in Dublin last month. McGuirk, who resides on Cashel Road in Crumlin, was arrested and taken to Mountjoy Garda Station, reports RTE.
He was later presented before the Dublin District Court where he was charged with dangerous driving causing death. In addition to this, he was also charged with reckless endangerment for driving a car at high speed and mounting a footpath.
The victim of the hit-and-run was Carol Seery from Finglas. She was crossing Phibsborough Road near Cross Guns Bridge in Phibsborough just after 9 pm on October 4 when she was struck by a car. The 67-year-old woman had been out socialising with her husband that night. Unfortunately, she did not survive the incident.
Detective Garda Kevin Bambrick provided evidence of McGuirk’s arrest, the charges against him, and the caution administered to him. The case continues to develop as the court proceedings move forward.
