At least 27 people have died, most of them children, after a school bus crashed down a mountain road in the Himachal Pradesh state in Northern India.
It is understood most of the victims were 10-12 years of age. Two teachers and the bus driver also died in the accident, with at least twelve more people seriously hurt.
Local sources say that excessive speed in the narrow mountain road may have been a contributing factor.
India has a very poor road safety record, due to a dilapidated road network and poor vehicle maintenance.
