A 29-yr-old man has shown up in court accused of killing his partner Daena Walsh, whose corpse was found on Friday afternoon at a flat in Midleton, County Cork, reports RTE.

Adam Corcoran, whose address is John Barry House, Connolly Street in Midleton, County Cork, made an appearance at today’s lunchtime special session of the Mallow District Court in County Cork. Daena Walsh, 27, was accused of being murdered by Mr. Corcoran.

Det Garda Cormac Ó’Bric provided evidence of order and prudence. At 2.18 a.m., when the defendant was formally presented with the single charge at the Midleton Garda Station, according to him, Mr. Corcoran said, “No comment.”

Since a murder accusation precludes the district court from granting bond, no bail application was filed in this instance, reports RTE.

Eddie Burke, a lawyer, represented Mr. Corcoran in court.

Mr. Burke requested that his client get care while he is being held in detention. After granting his plea, Judge Philip O’Leary declared that Corcoran will get all required medical and/or psychological support while incarcerated in Cork.

Since Mr. Corcoran is now unemployed, legal aid was given in this matter.

Judge O’Leary remanded Mr. Corcoran in jail with instructions to reappear in Mallow District Court by video connection on Tuesday of next week, reports RTE.

Emergency services arrived just after 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon, and she resided off Main Street in Midleton.

Due to a portion of the property being on fire, the fire department was also dispatched to the apartment.

The situation was saved so that the Garda Technical Bureau could examine it technically. At the Midleton Garda Station, an incident room has been set up, and the investigation will be overseen by a senior investigating office. There is also a family liaison officer on staff.

On Friday, Ms. Walsh’s body was brought to Cork University Hospital. Yesterday, State Pathologist’s Office physician Dr. Yvonne McCarthy performed a postmortem examination. For operational purposes, the postmortem’s findings were kept confidential, reports RTE.
