It will be a busy weekend for traders and publicans in Sligo, as over 400,000 are expected to descend on the town for the annual Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann festival.
Up to 6,000 musicians from around the world will take part in the country’s biggest music festival, which will kick off with a speech by President Michael D. Higgins.
Sligo’s town centre will be pedestrianised throughout the next eight days, with traffic restrictions in place.
The festival, which has been an annual occurrence since 1951, will begin on Sunday afternoon with a carnival parade to the Wild Atlantic Way gig rig in the town centre.
The festivities will bring in around €50m to the local economy.
