A 46-yr-old man is on trial this week for the June 2020 murder of Garda detective Colm Horkan at Castlerea in County Roscommon.
Stephen Silver, a motorcycle mechanic from Foxford, County Mayo, pleaded not guilty to the murder of a Garda who was acting on duty, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on reduced liability when he been charged at headquarters. Judgment this afternoon.
A jury is sworn in to try the case, which is expected to begin on Friday and last up to seven weeks but possibly longer.
More than 100 witnesses were called to testify.
