48% of people in ICU are fully vaccinated or have received their first dose

Over the past two weeks, a positivity rate of 11% has been seen across the country with the HSE saying that it’s going to be a challenging winter for staff around the country.

The government says that it remains very concerned that there’s only a 90% uptake in the vaccine in Ireland and that it would like to see everyone who can take the vaccine do so in the immediate future.

HSE bosses say that “it’s not too late” for people to change their mind and get a vaccine, but there’s still a very large cohort of society who say that they’ll never ever take a vaccine because it’s “untried, untested” and they claim that “no one knows for sure the long-term side effects that such a vaccine could hold”.

Their concerns are valid but the majority of medics appear to be on board with the vaccine claiming that it’s safe.

It would appear people who are unwilling to get a vaccine claim that people who are vaccinated can still contract covid regardless of their status.

It’s understood that 48% of those currently in ICU are fully vaccinated or have had at least one vaccine.
