A number of serious covid infections have led to 51 fully vaccinated patients being admitted to intensive care units around the country since April
It’s understood that the number of Covid-19 patients around Ireland in intensive care has risen to 73, which is the highest level since this fourth wave of the pandemic began in early July 2021.
Figures now show that 301 people with Covid-19 were treated in intensive care from April 1 until the beginning of last week. It’s believed that these people contracted covid after receiving their second jab and all 51 people fully vaccinated.
The vast majority of people in hospitals have now received at least one jab.
