A six-year-old boy was reportedly beheaded in front of his mother in Saudi Arabia after professing the “wrong” religion.
The horrifying incident happened as the pair visited a shrine to the Prophet Muhammad in the town of Medina.
A number of people asked them if they practiced the Shia doctrine, to which the mother replied ‘Yes.’ Shortly afterwards, a car pulled up and a group individuals snatched the child and proceeded to stab him in the neck until the head became separated from the body.
Most people in Saudi Arabia profess the Sunni doctrine of Islam, and human rights groups have constantly denounced persecution of those practicing Shia or any other religion.
