The 17-year-old attracted the attention of L’Oréal Professionnel while she attended the 2014 FIFA World Cup game between her home country, Belgium, and Russia, dressed as a fan.
A photo of her dressed in red, yellow and black face paint (Belgium’s colours), wearing a matching hat with horns, and waving pom-poms went viral on the Twitter, and one of L’Oréal’s team saw it.
On July 8, 2014, Despiegelaere announced on her Facebook fan page that she had signed a contract with L’Oréal Professionnel to promote their new beauty products.
However, following the emergence of a photo where the model was standing over a gazelle she claimed to shoot.
L’Oréal quickly distanced itself by stating she was only a model not a spokesperson.
Then the next day, L’Oréal released a statement saying Axelle’s contract was complete… it lasted 3 days only.
