UK’s Rwanda policy is driving asylum seekers to Ireland, claims Martin while doing nothing about it

Tánaiste Micheál Martin told a British publication on Friday that migrants are fleeing to Ireland rather than remaining in the UK due to the fear of being deported to Rwanda, reports Breaking News.

The UK parliament approved UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s landmark initiative earlier this week, which will return asylum seekers to Rwanda if they enter the country unlawfully. The UK government hopes to start operating the first flights in 10 to 12 weeks.

But Mr. Martin claimed to The Daily Telegraph that individuals in Ireland were already feeling the effects of the strategy because they were “fearful” of remaining in the UK.

“To get sanctuary here and within the European Union as opposed to the potential of being deported to Rwanda,” according to Tánaiste, is what asylum seekers are attempting to achieve, reports Breaking News.
