After being hit by a car in Co Clare early yesterday morning, a man in his 30s who was a pedestrian died.
It was approximately four in the morning on the N18 near Portdrine.
After the event, the guy was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where he subsequently passed away.
There are minor detours in place, and the route will stay blocked today afternoon to allow for a forensic investigation.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled, and the coroner for the area has been alerted.
In addition to pleading with any drivers who may have camera video and were in the vicinity at the time to provide it to gardaí, gardaí have made an appeal for witnesses to the event to come forward.
