A 34-yr-old man, believed to be a Muslim immigrant living in Ireland for a number of years, has been arrested by gardaà investigating the murder of an 8-yr-old girl in Wexford.
The man was released from hospital after midday before where he immediately arrested and taken to a garda station in the southeast of the country.
8-yr-old Malika Al Kattib tragically died following the incident at her home in New Ross on Sunday night.
It’s understood she died trying to defend her mother.
She was rushed  to University Hospital Waterford, where she died from her injuries in the early hours of Monday morning.
Her Irish mother converted to Islam. She was also injured in the incident and was hospitalised with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The man was also injured.
