This week seen a new leader in the Dail in the form of Leo Varadkar replacing the outgoing Taoiseach Enda Kenny which brought many of smiles to people across the nation, however those sitting in the Dail during Mr Varadkar’s inauguration were given something to laugh and smile about as it was revealed that both he and the current Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams attended the same Pilates class.
Even the though the thought of both men undertaking such a class is somewhat disturbing, many of those within the Dail on Wednesday afternoon could not help but laugh at the duo stretching their limbs together in the same room.
The rather unexpected revelation which caused ruptures of laughter around the Dail floor came when Mr Adams congratulated Mr Varadkar on his recent appointment.
Speaking to the Dail Mr Adams said: “I think Leo Varadkar is a decent man, and I wish him well,” Adams said. “I do not know him well, though he and I both attended the same pilates class. We couldn’t get the former Taoiseach to stretch as far as that.”
Needless to say the comical story caused quite a bit of a reaction on social media with many making the usual puns at both Minister’s expense, but many were drawn to the outgoing Taoiseach’s reaction in the video.
