After a truly dire May Bank Holiday, weather wise at least, and the cold spell that came before that, things are looking up for the month of May.
It is raining heavily in many areas this morning, but the wet weather will gradually clear up as the day goes on, giving way to warm and dry conditions and temperatures of up to 16C in the coming days.
Early indications forecast a settled and warm week ahead, with the possibility of a fine weekend also looming.
