A drunken man was found asleep in the maternity unit of Portlaois general hospital with a dead rabbit hanging out of his coat. The incident which happened 3 weeks ago has massively increased security in the hospital.
Gardai were called to the scene when the man was said to be “snoring his head off” in the middle of the maternity unit where babies had and were just being born.
The man was brought to A&E for assessment but was later discharged and escorted from the hospital grounds. He then was seen climbing over a wall back into the hospital and got into a fist fight in the public ward.
Surely it’s time the health budget was used to secure the staff and residents of the hospitals in this country and not fund the major wages of pen-pushers and clipboard carriers.
