The High Court has ordered the immediate release from Mountjoy of school teacher Enoch Burke, who has been in jail since the 2nd of September for contempt of court.
The judge warned Enoch Burke that will be fined €1,400 a day if he breaches an order directing him to stay away from Wilson’s Hospital School in Co Westmeath where he was a teacher and where this whole debacle started.
Judge David Nolan wants representatives of the Attorney General or the Department of Finance to come to court in January to see how Burke’s salary can be used to pay the €193,000 he already owes in fines for contempt of court, reports RTE.
Mr Burke’s situation rolls on.
