According to a recent report issued by the Central Statistics Office suggests that the crime rate has significantly risen across the country over the past 12 months.

The report states thant Assault, theft and burglary has risen by around 15% from this time last year. The alarming figures does not make for good reading and they are being currently reviewed before they officially get published before the Dail. The figures come after a similar  report was issued by the Garda Inspectorate which found many crimes across the country are going unreported.

Meanwhile Fianna Fáil Justice spokesperson Niall Collins has slammed the government for not addressing the recruitment process for employing more members of the Gardai sooner, Collins said: “Crime is on the increase and the Government has failed to respond by restarting the recruitment campaign far too late. “We’ve seen a drastic fall in the number of gardaí across the country.”
