Three drivers have been punished for what the gardaà claim was their observation while they were recording an accident on a Co Louth highway, reports RTE.
Yesterday morning, several Clogerhead gardaà and members of the Dundalk Drogheda Roads Policing Unit were called to the scene of an HGV collision on the M1.
The motorway’s two lanes were shut for a while, reports RTE.
Social media posts by gardaà revealed that they had “unbelievably” seen three cars “driving past while recording the scene with their phones”.
Following their stops, all three received fixed penalty notices.
“Using your phone increases the risk of another accident taking place,” according to GardaÃ, reports RTE.
