
According to authorities, six people have been killed in a car-ramming attack on a Christmas market in the eastern German city of Magdeburg in December, reports RTE.
Prosecutors in the adjacent city of Naumburg claimed that a 52-year-old woman died in the hospital due to injuries she received in the attack.
On December 20, a black BMW drove through the traditional market, slamming into and strewing bodies among the Christmas kiosks, reports RTE.
The state interior ministry’s most recent statistics show that 299 individuals were hurt in the incident.
The reason of the accused assailant is yet unknown, however Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, a 50-year-old Saudi psychiatrist, was taken into custody at the site, reports RTE.
In several online writings, Dr. Abdulmohsen expressed his strong anti-Islamic beliefs, rage at German authorities, and sympathy for far-right conspiracy theories about the “Islamization” of Europe.
