Today was Good Friday and some lucky people got the day off to and take a long earned rest and begin their 4 day weekend, but for many Limerick residents they did something rather different and hold one of the country’s biggest clean-ups today.
The extra large spring clean involved over 13,500 men, women and children getting out into the spring air and clean the city streets. The large clean up is the second to be held within a year after last years event attracted over 10,000 volunteers.
The community group effort even had one or two celebrities taking part as former Munster and Ireland Rugby star Paul O’Connell, got involved in the campaign and took part in the launch at the O’Connell Monument in Limerick this morning.
The keep limerick cleanevent is sponsored by the JP McManus Benevolent Fund.
