In what can only be described as truly heartbreaking, the Irish comedic legend Brendan Grace said goodbye and thank you to his legion of fans in a documentary on RTE on Monday.
‘Brendan Grace – thanks for the memories’, was in one way a very hard watch, while in another way it was a truly beautiful programme.
Brendan was determined to open the show from his hospital bed where he simply said into the camera that he mightn’t look the best but he wanted to say it himself, “thanks for the memories”.
The beautiful message started the entire programme which followed Brendan and the ‘Forget-me-nots’ choir.
It may well have been a tough watch for all of us who watched it but it was nothing short of a fitting tribute to a truly hilarious, generous, intelligent and gentle man.
RIP Brendan.
