Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn says he hopes recent case spike is just a blip

The acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has said that he hopes the recent spike in Covid-19 cases is just a blip.

Speaking at the NPHET briefing Dr Glynn said that the rise in cases is a cause for concern and the NPHET team will be monitoring the situation over the next 48 hours.

Glynn said that he hopes that figures will return to a more stable rate as the country continues to fight the virus.

He also said that the public must keep up social distancing measures in order to combat the spread of the virus.

The Chief Medical Officer’s comments come after 85 further Covid-19 cases were reported on Thursday.
