A&E charges have been dropped following an update to existing legislation.
From today, people attending hospital emergency departments will no longer have to pay the standard €80 fee.
According to the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly, who has resurfaced after a long absence and is yet to provide a statement about wretched hospital overcrowding nationwide, the elimination of the fee will help alleviate health costs.
