Aer Lingus cancels a further 76 flights that were scheduled for next week

Aer Lingus has acknowledged that 76 more flights have been cancelled due to an ongoing conflict between the airline and pilots, reports Breaking News.

The most recent cancellations will affect flights that were supposed to depart on Monday, July 8 and arrive on Wednesday, July 10.

It happens just before the airline and the Irish Air Line Pilots Association (Ialpa) are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday in an official attempt to settle the disagreement.

The airline’s pilots have requested a wage raise of 24%, arguing that this is commensurate with the rate of inflation since their last pay hike in 2019, reports Breaking News.

On June 26th, union members started a work-to-rule campaign, which is still in effect today. On Saturday, an eight-hour strike was called.

Thousands of passengers have been impacted by a number of cancellations due to the industrial action during the popular summer travel season, reports Breaking News.

The decision to cancel the flights was made “in order to continue protecting as many services as possible from the ongoing and highly disruptive impact of Ialpa’s continuing industrial action,” according to a statement released by Aer Lingus on Wednesday morning.

Passengers impacted by the cancellations can get free rebooking or full refunds/vouchers from Aer Lingus; further details are available on the airline’s website, reports Breaking News.
