Aer Lingus profits up 19% in Q3

Are Lingus has today reported a €113m net profit in Q3, up 19% from the same period last year. These figures show that this has been the most profitable quarter for the airline since the beginning of the financial crisis.

Total revenue is up 13.9% year-on-year, to €531.1m, according to sources from the airline.

There was a marked increase on short-haul revenue, up 5.5%, with passenger numbers up 2.2%.

Again according to airline sources, long haul routes have continued to perform strongly. Fare revenues were €175.9m for the quarter, up 13.3% from €131m from the same quarter in 2013.

If the upward trend continues, Are Lingus management expect that profits for the full year of 2014 will be ahead of 2013.

The airline has carried a total of over 3 million paseengers during Q3 this year, an increase of 4.8% from the same period last year.
