Many people of faith and indeed many with no faith looked on in horror when RTE broadcast a “comedy” segment which broadcast “God had been arrested over “sexual harassment scandals.”
In the offensive broadcast, Aengus Mac Grianna reads: “The five-billion-year-old stood accused of forcing himself on a young middle-eastern migrant and allegedly impregnating her against her will, before being sentenced to two years in prison, with the last 24 months suspended.”
A man dressed as God is seen being led away by a member of the gardaí, and is heard shouting “It was 2,000 years ago.”
The horror soon changed to anger, with RTE receiving a very large number of complaints, some of whom even from people with no faith whatsoever.
Later, RTE were forced to issue a public apology. Some Irish Christians are bracing themselves for New Years Eve 2021 to see if RTE have learned the errors of their ways a year later.
