Aging Garda computer system ‘PULSE’ turns sixteen this year

And despite the fact that the system used by our one and only law enforcement agency is built on technology from a past century, there are no immediate plans to replace, according to Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald.

She was referring to comments made by the head of the Garda Inspectorate Robert Olson, who said that the crime-logging system should be scrapped altogether.

A number of upgrades have been done to the PULSE platform over the last 16 years. The initial setting up cost was €61m.
