Airbus has confirmed that it will cease production of its much-vaunted A380 superjumbo model by 2021, due to a sharp decline in sales.
The A380 garnered a lot of praise from passengers but crucially, failed to gain traction with airlines. Emirates for instance scaled back its order back to 123 units, from an originally planned 162 jets.
The move casts a huge question mark on UK jobs, where a number of parts are manufactured, specially amidst the general uncertainty of Brexit.
