Gardai have confirmed that a prisoner from Portlaoise Prison is now at large, after evading custody while on a hospital visit.
Authorities are searching for the fugitive, named as Darren McInerney, who made good his bid for freedom on Saturday last.
The man is serving a 2-year sentence for assault causing harm.
