All eyes on Israel as Australia looks favourite to win the Eurovision in the controversial venue

It’s the night where Europe watches the same show at the same time – well, Australia will also be watching.

The southern hemisphere country managed to pigeon hole its way into the competition after its immense popularity down under saw Aussies finally be allowed to enter.

This year’s venue has been the subject of much controversy as calls for boycotting the event completely fell on deaf ears.

Ireland may not have qualified to reach tonight’s Eurovision final, but no doubt countless people will still be having the usual “Eurovision party” to enjoy the fun of the show.

25-yr-old Sarah McTiernan did her best with a song that many felt just hadn’t that Eurovision-feel.

However, of those that did qualify, it’s been tipped on social media that Australia will win tonight’s European song contest, yeah, go figure.

Calls for boycotts of Israel seem to have completely abated with people just getting on with the routine and practice runs.

The show starts at 8pm tonight on RTE One. What are your thoughts on the Eurovision? Tell us in the Facebook post and share this with your friends.
