All eyes on the Áras: Fianna Fáil’s Mark Daly reveals he would consider presidential bid

The next presidential election maybe months away but it seems that the prospect of becoming the next man or woman in the Áras has heated over the past few days as yet another party representative has put their name forward.

In recent days we the Irish public have learned that former GAA President Sean Kelly will consider running for the coveted position which could be vacated by president Michael D Higgins later this year.

However the Fine Gael MEP could have some competition as Fianna Fáil’s Mark Daly revealed he is open to the idea of an Áras bid of his own.

Senator Daly who was speaking RTÉ’s The Week In Politics programme said he was humbled and honoured that his fellow party colleagues approached him to represent their party.

However Mr Daly did state that he would only consider running if the entire party gave him their full support.
