
A nationwide survey of travel habits in Ireland confirmed that almost 7 out of 10 cars still dominated car journeys last year, reports Breaking News.
The National Household Travel Survey found that 69 percent of all trips are made by private car, with the next most popular mode of transportation being walking (20 percent) and 5 percent by bus or coach.
The level of car use has slightly decreased compared to previous surveys conducted in 2012 and 2017, when the rates were 70% and 70% respectively. and 71 percent, reports Breaking News.
However, a recent study found significant differences in travel patterns between those living in Dublin and its suburbs and those living in rural areas.
Car use in Dublin has fallen to 53 per cent compared with 80 per cent for rural residents, reports Breaking News.
