Amateur hour: RTE slammed for technical commentary issues during Ireland/Scotland game

Social media users were posting how furious they were with RTE’s pathetic coverage of Ireland’s opening Rugby World Cup game with Scotland.

RTE must have been working on amateur hour as the audible commentary was basically impossible to hear from the get-go.

Commentators Hugh Cahill and Donal Lenihan were trying to broadcast live from the stadium in Yokohama, Japan, but brutal technical issues left fans back home angered as they could barely hear anything.

Instead, RTE decided to use UK television commentary while the issue was investigated, before Cahill and Lenihan later returned but even then the commentary was completely out of sync.

Social media users have vowed to watch Ireland’s matches elsewhere as the tournament progresses.
