A man shot a 14-year-old girl in the back of the head while she was playing hide & seek outside the man’s house, Louisiana police said, reports Sky News.
Several children were playing and hiding on the man’s property in Starks, the Calcasieu Township Sheriff’s Office said.
David Doyle, 58, told detectives he got his gun when he saw shadows outside his home and was shooting at people he saw running away, unknowingly hitting the girl, reports Sky News.
The girl was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Mr. Doyle was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, four counts of assault with a firearm and illegal disposal of a firearm, officials said.
This is the latest in a series of recent shootings prompted by trivial circumstances.

Another girl, Kaylin Gillis, 20, was shot dead in New York when the car she and her friends were traveling in made a wrong turn while they were looking for a friend’s house.
Ralph Yarl, 18, was shot and injured after going to the wrong house in Kansas City to pick up his younger brothers, reports Sky News.
