The Tánaiste told a Fine Gael meeting on Wednesday evening that the current wave of Covid appears to be stabilizing at a worrying level.
Leo Varadkar said we don’t want to go towards Christmas with this level of Covid.
He clarified that the trajectory of Covid was uncertain, but that everything would be done to avoid a new lockdown, even though many believe that it’s now going that way.
The Fine Gael leader said he believes people are responding positively to the guidelines to stop the current wave.
He said the third vaccine booster program is working and cases in those over 70s are on the decline.
