Another medal for team Ireland as Eoghan Clifford takes Bronze in C3 Individual Pursuit

There was more medal success for team Ireland in the Paralympics last night as Eoghan Clifford claimed the bronze medal in the C3 Individual Pursuit.

Eoghan aged 35, and a three-time world champion, took home the bronze when he pipped Canada’s Michael Sametz in a head-to-head 3km contest at the Olympic Velodrome in Rio.

Clifford who is bravely battling with a degenerative muscle disease, was seemingly in control of the race when he had a 2.4 second lead going into the final 1km. However Sametz made up significant ground on the final few laps closing the gap consistently, although Clifford held to cross the line in first in the heat with a time of 3:40.201.
