According to the outspoken TD, the campaign is on the verge of complete success, amid claims that some 30% of households are yet to register with Irish Water.

The much-hated utility is refusing to release the full details about how many people have actually paid their bill up to now, with only six days left until applications for the so-called “water conservation grant” will close. Those households that do not register will not be entitled to the grant.

Paul Murphy has stated that the campaign has been a complete success.

He said “The Government has tried to give the impression – falsely – that they will be able to take the water charges from people’s wages, social welfare , or pensions. That’s simply not the case.

“We’re doing a lot of work on the ground, counteracting the false information that’s coming from the Government – to encourage people to stick together.

“We’re on the verge of a big, big victory here.”
