Marking the anniversary of the first day that the conflict in Ukraine started, the Tanaiste Micheal Martin spoke at a ceremony in Dublin appearing to speak for all the country.
Declaring that Ireland is militarily neutral, Ireland is not politically neutral and that Martin said Ireland fully supports Ukraine.
In what can only be described as something that will no doubt split households, families and opinions down the middle – many people respect and agree with Ireland’s neutrality and that they don’t want young Irish people being dragged into a way that has nothing to do with us.
As it stands, there could well be a debate down the road on Ireland’s stance on neutrality.
