As 10,000 Irish lie homeless in Ireland – Government considers building accommodation for Ukrainian refugees on State land

As tens of thousands flood out of the Ukraine on a daily basis, Europe will be awash with refugees who are seeking accommodation.

As it stands, Ireland is due to take in at least 20,000 refugees from the Ukraine, with around 500 said to be here already.

All this despite the fact that Ireland has approximately 10,000 homeless Irish people lying on park benches, sleeping in doorways and in hotel rooms around the country.

Irish people have been asked to open their doors to house some of the refugees but it’s understood that the government is considering building accommodation specifically dedicated for Ukrainian refugees on State land.

Many people are already questioning why such shelter hasn’t been built for homeless Irish people if they’re able to do it for 20,000 people who aren’t even from Ireland.
