As thugs walk the street – Enoch Burke will remain in Mountjoy again for Christmas

Secondary school teacher Enoch Burke will be jailed over Christmas after refusing to promise to comply with a Supreme Court order to stay away from the school where he worked, reports RTE.

On September 9, Mr Burke was jailed for a second time for breaching a High Court order to stay away from Wilson Hospital School in Co-Westmeath.

The matter was brought back to court this morning to see if Mr Burke was willing to overcome his contempt by promising to comply with the order.

Lawyers for the school told the court they would “great reluctantly” ask Burke to stay in prison if he refused to remove his contempt, reports RTE.

Judge Mark Sanfe rose from the dock five times because of interruptions by members of Mr Burke’s family – his mother Martina, sister Ammi, father Sean and brother Isaac – as well as Mr Burke’s refusal to stop giving statements, which the judge said.

There are no results with just bringing a case to court.

Mr. Burke’s statement focused specifically on the appointment of former attorney-general Meyer Whelan to the appeals court, which later ruled in his case, reports RTE.

Family members have repeatedly said his 2017 nomination “stinks to high heaven,” reports RTE.
