Authorities in Morocco have confirmed that at least 26 people have been killed after they were electrocuted whilst working in an illegal textile factory.

According to The North Africa Post, the 26 victims were killed at a factory which was located underneath a villa in the western part of Tangier.

It is reported that heavy flooding in the area resulted in a short circuit in the factory’s electricity supply.

The fatal accident also resulted in a number of people being hospitalised and it is believed that there could be more victims.

It is understood that the factory employed 40 people and that most of the casualties were women.
