Indian news outlets are reporting that over two dozen children have died in a government-run hospital in northern India.
At least 23 children died on Thursday, and 11 the next day, at the Baba Raghav Das Hospital, sited in Gorakhpur district of northern Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populated state.
The reason given for the string of infant deaths is the lack of oxygen supply of the facility, after the supplied stopped shipments due to non-payment of outstanding debts.
Indian hospitals, specially those in rural areas, are regularly overcrowded and short of medical supplies.
