There are reports this evening that no fewer than 70 people have died after their boat capsized off the Tunisian coast earlier today.
The migrant boat had originated in Lybia, and may have been headed for Italy.
It is understood that Tunisian rescue ships managed to save 16 people.
A total of 443 migrants have died in Mediterranean waters so far this year.
