At least two people have died and 70 injured, after two trains collided near the South Carolina state capital, Columbia, earlier today.
Amtrak Train 91, enroute from Miami to New York, collided with a freight convoy at around 2.35am local time.
The Amtrak locomotive derailed, pulling a least two carriages with it. The freight train remained on the track.
This is the third fatal accident involving Amtrak trains in as many months.
